Dear Microsoft Word, All I did was try to copy and paste two lines of normal text. That is not a good reason to freeze, throw up a rainbow wheel, eat a bajillion CPU cycles, and make my fans spin at 5000+ RPM. You are a ridiculous and melodramatic piece of software. We might need to take a break; I can’t tolerate this manipulative behavior indefinitely. Sincerely, Sarah  P.S. If you would...

U.S. Wanted a Spanish SOPA. →
nedhepburn: Interesting… not only is the U.S. government trying to control our internet, but now they’re trying to influence the entire world’s internet. Just so some lawyers and some industry fat-cats can make a few bucks. Unbelievable. iiiiinteresting The El País article that Mashable cites, para mis amigos hispanohablantes: “EE UU afeó a Zapatero la decisión de no aprobar la...

Jon Huntsman dropping bid for GOP nod →
cognitivedissonance: Well, now watching the debates is going to be less interesting. Sources say Huntsman is to endorse Romney. You blew it, Republicans. The odds are good you’ve just ensured Obama’s second term. You could have had an intelligent, reasonable candidate. Instead, you have Gordon Gekko’s bastard brother. Bravo.

Just dropped my not-even-six-months-old Macbook Pro on my kitchen floor. It fell at least three feet, bounced off a stepstool, and landed on tile. And nothing happened. It kept running. I can’t even find a scratch. So thank you, aluminum unibody. Thank you, Steve Jobs or whoever is responsible for this. Because I’m an idiot, and I’m why we can’t have (most) nice things.

Mayan Elders speak out about the 2012 Prophecy →
kahs2012:   “Anthropologists visit the temple sites and read the inscriptions and make up stories about the Maya, but they do not read the signs correctly. It’s just their imagination. Other people write about prophecy in the name of the Maya. They say that the world will end in December 2012. The Mayan elders are angry with this. The world will not end. It will be transformed.”- Carlos...

—Charles M. Blow, NYTimes. Excellent response not only to racial issues but also to the GOP’s ongoing complaints about food stamp recipients in general.

This is pure evil.
Lots of people have posted incensed commentary on Tennessee’s so-called “anti-bullying” bill, and rightfully so, but the writeups about the bill don’t capture the depth of the deception and hatred molded into this little document itself. Read it for yourself. It is one of the most craftily worded things I’ve ever seen - and not in a good way, no, but in a way that is...
